met up with a few primary sch mates over the weekend. in fact, i cant believe i actually met up with them every single day. it's like, saturday morning, sunday night and monday night! interesting to see how ppl are doing and where they are going with life. then at the same time it can be overwhelming. face it: humans compare. we compare all the time. (that's why i always say it's hypocritical how my parents ask us to compare because they inevitably do too) so back to friends from my childhood from long ago. i believe it's the same with everyone. some of ur friends look promising at the beginning, but turn out to be only like that. and then the othrs do badly in psle, pawns the olvls, and goes on to pawn the alvls in top-notch jcs. ok then here comes the difficult part about taking it all in stride + knowing whr to stop being so easy on urself.
ok besides besides the point, cus the only IPians among us are rvians, i generalise with: rvians vs JCians. listening to them talk, i realise i've spent much more time in those 2 yrs studying rather than growing up. sure, i think many teachers plus principal would say that yknw, now that alvls are over, we have all the time in the world to grow up. but the question is, have we passed the age of growing up? whatever the answer is, rvians learn that we have to do it quickly and as soon as possible. but for those who dont realise this point or unable to grow up will find themselves stuck in the small circle of nerdness and within the even smaller circle of rv friends. for those that are trying to 'grow up' (and that term is used loosely), only a rare few manage the skill that rv failed to teach: striking a balance, drawing the line. Some ppl try to hard to grow up. Others think that they've succeeded but it only seems so to themselves. The rest have not done enough. Yet i wld be entirely biased to put the blame on rv because it may very well be a singapore education system thing. In fact i think that is the most impt lesson of life so i dont blame schools for not helping us learn it. Maybe, just maybe, we're supposed to do that for ourselves? Anw, i have no idea how othr ppl feel, but putting myself amongst primary school mates for 3 consecutive days, i may have over-matured, thought too much, taken things too seriously, all for my own good.
